Indications/Uses
Prazole Forte PUD, benign gastric ulceration, eradication of H. pylori, prophylaxis for NSAID-associated ulceration & Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Prazole IV Treatment of GERD, duodenal ulceration.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Prazole Forte GERD 20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Maintenance therapy: 20-40 mg daily. PUD 40 mg once daily. Duodenal ulceration 40 mg once daily for 2-4 wk. Benign gastric ulceration 4 mg once daily for 4-8 wk. Eradication of H. pylori Pantoprazole 40 mg bid + Clarithromycin 500 mg bid & either Amoxicillin 1 g bid or Metronidazole 400 mg bid. Prophylaxis for NSAID-associated ulceration 20 mg daily. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome 80 mg daily in 2 divided doses. Prazole IV 40 mg IV once daily for 7 days.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Special Precautions
Possibility of malignancy should be excluded prior to therapy of gastric ulcer (may mask symptoms & delay diagnosis). Confirm inflammation of esophagus endoscopically. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
Changes in absorption in concomitant use w/ ketoconazole.
